The mission of the Program Committee is to develop scheduled programming and facilitate ongoing organizational initiatives through programs and special events. This committee implements programming focused on education, professional development, and other topics and issues relevant to AAAFA members. The Program Committee further strengthens the objectives of AAAFA to serve as a repository for information regarding current trends and to create networking and mentoring opportunities.

The mission of the Chapter & membership Development Committee is to develop initiatives that will increase Association membership and active chapters of the Association. This includes the development of linkages with organizations that can be beneficial to the mission and purpose of the association, along with targeting new member’s sources and funding opportunities.

The Career Development Committee is dedicated to supporting the AAAFA in its efforts to build a strong professional community. Their mission is to provide AAAFA members, students, career changers and those new to the profession with opportunities to enhance their careers and deepen their involvement in the profession by creating a pipeline between generations and career stages.

We communicate and engage with existing members to increase participation in the chapter, recruit new members and follow up on member issues. The Committee initiates phone calls to highlight specific events and gain feedback, organizes social events and promotes AAAFA Connect. It is a great committee to be a part of if you want to get to know our members and improve your networking skills.

The Partnership Committee’s objective is to obtain partners and sponsors for the AAAFA so that the organization has enough revenue to fund its programs and operations. There are several different packages that the Committee offers and “sells” to prospective partners. It is the Partnership Committee’s goal to completely sell out the Regional Conference booth slots through these annual packages as well as solicit participation from the partners for various marketing opportunities throughout the year. It is also the Partnership Committee’s objective to encourage partners to be involved with the AAAFA community and to take advantage of their various benefits in order to maximize their partnership dollars and retain their partnership commitment.

We establish strategic relationships with allied professional organizations such as the Estate Planning Council, Society of Financial Service Professionals, and the CPA Society with the goal of promoting potential referral opportunities for AAAFA members. It is a forum through which new ideas can be generated to promote the image of the financial planning profession. Under this umbrella, we have CPA, PFS, CFP® and CFA liaisons, as well as transitions and NexGen activities

The Public Relations Committee members plan and direct programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image of the financial planning profession. We work together to develop strategies for increasing public awareness of financial planning in general and the AAAFA specifically. We also promote financial planning and the AAAFA to the media as well as coordinate the dissemination of news releases, public service announcements, financial news and other information to local news outlets, including social media.

The Communications Committee advises the Board of Directors on the content, design, and production of the various Society communications, including the Newsletter of the National Society of Black Physicists, the Proceedings of the Annual Conference, the website, brochures, posters, journals and exhibits.

The Committee is also be responsible for evaluating and making recommendations to the Board of Directors for conferring the status of Fellow of the National Society of Black Physicists upon a member.
